With 20 years of public relations experience within art, architecture, design, development and real estate, Melinda's passion for design and the built environment began as a child when her grandfather, a registered architect, regularly shared his drawings with her.
A native of Ohio, Melinda began her career at a full-service agency based in the Midwest, where she quickly learned the importance of integrated marketing communications, and its role in helping to meet the new business development goals of the agency's clients. As Melinda’s interest in design and fine art expanded, she applied her knowledge of brand management and media relations to launch MPR in 2002 in San Diego's Historic Gaslamp Quarter to provide strategic new business consultation, in addition to marketing, PR and advertising programs to artists, design showrooms and boutique architecture and interior design studios.
Melinda later moved to Los Angeles where she joined a real estate PR firm to help expand and spearhead its A|E|C (architecture, engineering and construction) studio. In 2008, Melinda joined Christine Anderson & Associates (CAA PR) as Vice President overseeing the agency's fine art, A+D and luxury lifestyle divisions. Melinda served as VP of the company’s West Coast operations for six years after its acquisition by Connecticut-based Creative Partners to form Creative Partners/West.
In 2014, Melinda co-founded NAVY PR to more closely work with clients and serve as an integral member of their marketing and new business development teams. As a result of Melinda’s experience, NAVY’s clients have included a range of architecture and interior design studios, real estate investors and developers, artists and fine art organizations. Melinda also serves as an advisor to former employers on select campaigns for clients focused on the built environment.
Melinda is an Allied Affiliate Member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA, LA chapter) and a past member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). A graduate of the University of Dayton, Melinda received her degree in journalism and communications with a focus in public relations. Melinda's work has received numerous PRism Awards in recognition of excellence from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), in addition to several Hermes Creative Awards and international MARCOM Awards.
